ValensBooks was founded by Mauro Moscucci and Raul Guerrero. It is a publishing company focused on educating the public about risk factors and manifestations of diseases, and on how to maintain health and wellness through appropriate treatments and lifestyle changes.

About Us

Mauro Moscucci, M.D., M.B.A., a recognized scholar and clinician, is the Chairman of Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore/LifebridgeHealth and Medical Director of the LifebridgeHealth Cardiovascular Institute. Prior to joining Lifebridge Health, Dr Moscucci was Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he served as Acting Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chief of the Cardiovascular Division, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan, where he served as Director of Interventional Cardiology, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Associate Chief of Cardiology.He is the author or co-author of more than 300 published medical papers, abstracts and book chapters. He is also the editor of the textbook “Complications of Cardiovascular Procedures: Risk factors, Management and Bailout Techniques”, and the editor of the latest (8th) edition of “Grossman and Baim’s: cardiac catheterization, angiography and intervention”, one of the classic textbooks in cardiology.  Since his initial training in Cardiology,  Dr. Moscucci has focused his career on outcome assessment and on improving quality of care of patients with cardiovascular disease.

Raúl Guerrero,novelist, journalist and encyclopedist, is the author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, including the novel INSOLENCE and the mini encyclopedia of the heart Llegar a 100. As essayist he has collaborated with publications worldwide, including Nobel Prize Laureate Garcia Marquez’s Revista Cambio, Bogota, El País, Madrid, Le Monde, Paris, The Barcelona Review, The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, as well as all major Spanish-language newspapers in the US. He has written numerous essays for Encyclopedia Britannica and Encyclopedia Latina.
